One day a not so close friend of mine who reads my
online business blog invited me to play chess. We played 3 sets and then we had a normal chat. When I reached home, I was thinking about the moves which led me to victory and it struck me. A simple question which I thought was very valid to share with you all.
Isn’t playing chess like selling?
When we play chess, we anticipate the moves of our opponents and play likewise. This is the same case with selling. While I plan to sell something to someone, one of the steps I will do is prepare beforehand answers to the counter questions my client might ask. It’s not trying to cheat them or persuade them for the wrong intensions. When you market your product or service, it should be a win-win situation.
The sales must be profitable for both parties. It must provide monetary benefit to the seller and emotional/measurable benefits to the buyer. When you persuade someone to buy your product, make sure that it is not a biased push to make a quick dime. Attitude helps make a sale in most cases.
Develop a Desire to Succeed in Selling
Many people think that success just happens like that. They think that it is a matter of luck. I won’t say that luck plays a small part in your success, but most of the time it does it. Whether you are successful or not is not dependent on the amount of luck you have. It depends on practice and your inner desire to succeed in what you do.
When you play chess, you need to stay focused. Your desire to win the game keeps you mind fresh. You can plan your moves and anticipate the opponent’s moves. The burning sensation of wanting to win keeps you moving. Well thought out moves win the game and those which are made in haste may cause you to lose your game. One wrong move can end it all and one brilliant move can win it. See what one move can make? It can change the result dramatically.
Many people in the affiliate marketing industry complain that they can’t make a dime. The reason is noted as high levels of competition. However, when we closely examine the reason, we find that the actual reason is not competition but the lack of action. Many of us are guilty of this. We take no action yet want success. One thing you must remember is that without action, success is far far away.
When you want to sell smart and logically, you need to work hard and eventually, sales will follow. No matter what you do, if you think that sitting back on your couch will help sell your products, you are wrong. No sales without action and no money without sales.
